Our approach is collaborative, intentional, and deeply rooted in place. We believe the best landscapes are lived in, not just looked at. That’s why we work side by side with our clients to design environments that reflect their lives—spaces that are beautiful, resilient, and designed to evolve over time.

Many of our projects are multi-seasonal by design, unfolding in thoughtful phases. This gives us the flexibility to respond to your changing needs, manage timelines and budgets with care, and allow each layer of the garden to develop in harmony with the seasons.

We prioritize native species—not because it’s trendy, but because it’s what works here. These plants thrive in our local environment and support long-term sustainability. That said, we’re not purists—if you have a special request outside of our typical palette, we’re happy to explore how it can fit into your space with intention.

Our focus is on building long-term relationships and creating gardens that support how you live—whether that means safe, playful spaces for kids, pet-friendly zones, or accessible designs that grow with you as life changes.

We’ve built this business slowly and deliberately over more than a decade. We’d rather stay small than compromise the values that brought us here: sustainability, collaboration, and a deep respect for both people and place.

🌱 Kalki Winter

Founder & Lead Designer

S. Kalki Winter is the creative force behind eScape Landscapes Memphis. A long-time resident of Cooper-Young and a student of both art and science, Kalki brings over two decades of experience to his work—along with an enduring belief that gardens are optimistic, soulful spaces.

For Kalki, landscape design is not just a profession—it’s a practice of listening, adapting, and helping people feel at home in the outdoors. With a deep love for native plants, a sharp eye for beauty, and a talent for translating needs into elegant, lasting designs, Kalki leads every project with curiosity and care.

Whether crafting a front-yard butterfly haven for his daughter, reimagining school grounds in his neighborhood, or guiding a multi-year garden transformation, Kalki’s approach remains the same: thoughtful, personal, and grounded in respect for the land and the people who live on it.

Fun Fact: Kalki designed his own grass-free yard in Cooper Young, a garden that continues to evolve with his family—and with the pollinators that need safe-haven.
